This week Parliament has been in recess, which gives MPs a great chance to spend more time in the constituency and also with their families. Thankfully I managed to remember Valentine’s Day, thanks to a reminder from my eight year old.
Northern Rail have many apprenticeship opportunities, and it was a pleasure to talk to the Managing Director about how we can increase these opportunities for young people in Bassetlaw.
It was fantastic to support the Hospitality Apprenticeships Showcase in Parliament. Apprenticeships are an incredible way for young people to kickstart their careers, and they are something that the government, and myself, have always advocated for.
Since 2010, the Conservative Government have created an apprenticeship system from the ground up and delivered 5.7 million apprenticeships for young people – playing a vital role in growing our local economy.
This week Bassetlaw has received national media attention regarding the sale of vapes to those who are underage. Whilst the photographs making the news were from Retford, we also know this has been a problem in Worksop and all over the district, as well as the rest of the country.
This week sees National Apprenticeship Week (5 – 11 February) which highlights the positive impact apprenticeships and skills have on economic growth, productivity, and creating opportunities for local businesses, communities, and individuals.
