We are announcing legislation that will mean minimum service levels for vital services people rely on, rather than having them crippled by strikes.

Whilst the opposition can’t make up their minds on whether their MPs are allowed to join picket lines or whether they do or don’t publicly support strikes, we are taking sensible and proportionate action.

On Tuesday, I asked the Secretary of State for Business, Grant Shapps, whether he agreed with me that these measures are fair and simply reflect legislation we already see in other countries, such as France and Spain.
